It portrays the feelings well. The weight of the judgement of the Alpha, the mixed feelings of the pack, the loneliness of the banished. I love how it seems he's taking a last look at all he'll never have again, more concerned with what he's losing than whether he'll survive the night alone.
I like it. ^^
Also, whether it's actually a "he" or not, I don't know. It's just what it felt like. o.o
